With ski resorts like Ischgl, Sölden, St. Anton am Arlberg, and Kitzbühel, Tyrol is the heart of Austrian winter tourism, drawing thousands of visitors from around the world every winter season. Staffing needs are correspondingly high in hospitality, food service, ski rental, and lift operations — from reception and service to ski patrol and ski instructors. In summer, demand shifts toward hiking and mountain tourism as well as alpine farming in the rural valleys. Since many businesses are located away from larger towns, staff accommodation right at the workplace is traditionally standard for many seasonal positions in Tyrol — especially for staff who are only there for one season. German skills are required at many businesses, though in strongly international resorts like Ischgl, staff also get by well with English.
