Upper Austria has a more industrial economy than the western states, but the Salzkammergut around Hallstatt and Lake Traunsee also make it a significant tourism region. Seasonal positions here are found mainly in hospitality and food service in the lake region, as well as in agriculture in the foothills of the Alps. The state capital, Linz, adds urban restaurant and retail jobs to the mix. Since Upper Austria is less winter-sports-focused than Tyrol or Salzburg, demand for seasonal staff is spread more evenly across summer and winter.
